Paul Schlusser

Founder & Executive Director

Paul Schlusser is the Founder of Freshwater Instruments, bringing decades of experience across technology, innovation, and business leadership. With a background spanning software development, communications technology, and advanced hardware systems, Paul has founded and led multiple successful ventures, including Infostream and Visionary Machines.

He was part of the original Fairlight Instruments team and founded Freshwater with the vision of keeping Fairlight’s legacy alive - a passion project combining his love of music technology and engineering. At Freshwater, Paul provides strategic direction and technical leadership, guiding the company’s vision and long-term growth while blending deep technical expertise with a focus on practical, real-world solutions.

Reid Zhu

Embedded Software & Hardware Engineer

Reid is an Embedded Software and Hardware Engineer at Freshwater Instruments. Originally from China and now based in Sydney, he holds a Bachelor’s degree from Beihang University and a Master’s from UNSW, where he specialised in analogue and digital circuits, DSP, and signal processing. He brings extensive experience across both hardware design and the development and optimisation of the software that brings it to life.

Outside of engineering, Reid is a dedicated HiFi enthusiast and an avid cyclist. He has a strong interest in music technology and contributes to a range of ongoing hardware projects, playing a key role in shaping product development - from early-stage concepts through to working, testable systems.

Pete Longhurst

Product Specialist

Pete is Freshwater Instruments’ Product Specialist, bridging the gap between the people who design and build our products and the people who bring them to life.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Performance from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and is a multi-skilled drummer, producer, and audio engineer. With releases under his own name and as part of several bands - along with his role leading the studio at Freshwater Instruments - Pete draws on his experience as a working musician to shape how ideas become experiences, translating intention into something felt, heard, and understood.

Caitlin Devesey-Jones

Creative & Administrative Co-ordinator

Caitlin is Freshwater Instruments’ Creative and Administrative Coordinator, supporting the business across marketing, operations, and day-to-day administration. Originally from North Wales and now based in Sydney, she brings a strong background in marketing and organisational support, holding a First Class Honours degree in Marketing.

Working closely with the wider team, Caitlin helps keep the office running smoothly while contributing to Freshwater’s creative and marketing initiatives. She plays an active role in shaping and communicating the Freshwater brand, ensuring consistency across internal and external touch points. With a strong eye for detail and a proactive, highly organised approach, Caitlin contributes across multiple areas of the business and is an integral part of the Freshwater Instruments team.

David Corazza

Vice President of Marketing

David is Vice President of Marketing at Freshwater Instruments, with extensive experience across the professional audio industry. He specialises in brand strategy, product positioning, and communicating complex audio technology in a clear, compelling way.

With a background in electronic music and long-standing involvement with classic instruments, he brings a strong understanding of the culture and legacy behind Freshwater Instruments.

David also has experience lecturing in contemporary electronic music and holds academic backgrounds in Psychology, Sociology, Philosophy, and Studio Production. He is passionate about UI/UX, product storytelling, and connecting musicians with technology. At Freshwater Instruments, he plays a key role in shaping marketing strategy, driving brand growth, and supporting product launches.

Jackson Bamber

Embedded Software & Hardware Engineer

Jackson is part of Freshwater Instruments’ engineering team, contributing across both hardware and software to support the creation and development of innovative instruments. He combines practical engineering skills with his academic studies in Mechatronics Engineering and Computer Science, bringing a hands-on, problem-solving approach to the technical side of the business.

Working closely with the wider team, Jackson plays an important role in translating ideas into functional prototypes and supporting the ongoing development of Freshwater’s instruments.
